France – Paris City Council approves new antenna agreement

A new “Paris Charter” for electromagnetic fields from mobile network sites was approved at the end of March by the City Council. The Charter includes a revised “exposure limit”, additional measurements and information for citizens.

Exposure limits: the new limit of 5 V/m is a 30% reduction on the previous level of 7 V/m and less than the Brussels limit of 6 V/m. However, the note accompanying the Charter explains that the limit is “5 V/m equivalent 900 MHz.”

Information and measurements: A Municipal Observatory will be created that will conduct measurements at day-care centres, schools and public spaces as well as providing information to the public. In addition, the City of Paris is making available an on-line form to make it easier for citizens to request free measurements by an accredited organization.
