The Federal Council of Germany has approved the provisions of the minimization of the electromagnetic fields

At the initiative of the Federal Ministry of Environment (BMUB) protection from electric and magnetic fields will be further improved. The competent national authorities will be able to examine in accordance with uniform standards, whether the uncommitted minimization requirement for electric and magnetic fields emanating from power lines, for example, is respected. A corresponding provision has approved today the Federal Council.

The regulation will enter into force early in the new year. The Ordinance on electromagnetic fields (26 BImSchV) stipulates electric and magnetic fields that emanate from DC and low frequency equipment to minimize. Such plants are, for example, high-voltage overhead lines and underground cables, as well as transformers and converter stations (substations). In the text approved by the Bundesrat, general and administrative provision of this minimization is concretized.
Federal Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks: "With this provision, the law enforcement agencies received a uniform implementation, testing and evaluation scheme for the enforcement of the minimization requirement You can thus examine promptly and conclusively whether the plant operators with their obligation to minimize the fields progeny This is the one of the.. preventive health improved, secondly, the unified arrangements benefiting the nationwide necessary expansion of electricity networks. "
The general administrative regulation stipulates that all newly constructed and substantially altered plants must be tested for their potential to minimize, if there are in their area of influence places where people can reside permanently (for example, housing, schools). The minimization of the electric and magnetic fields is carried out according to the prior art, which is described in the general administrative regulation. In further consideration process among other aspects of nature conservation and species protection, efficiency and network availability play a role.
The decided by the Federal minor provisos still requires the final approval of the Federal Cabinet in January 2016. After that the general administrative regulation to enter into force.
